Surprisingly tasty

A silkworm is actually the larva of the silkmoth called Bombyx mori. According to a Chinese legend, the silkworm's silk was first discovered by an ancient empress named Lei Zu. As she was drinking her tea under a tree, a silk cocoon fell into her cup. When she picked it out, she saw the silk getting wrapped around her finger.Silkworms usually taste like pecan nut with a soft heart wrapped in a crispy shell. They won't disappoint the curious eaters and lovers of gourmet expeiences. In Korea, silkworms are called "beondegi". They are sold on the numerous street markets. Koreans have a habit of having them at any time of the day as a street snack.

Silkworms with a glass of fine wine

Silkworms are perfect when served as a snack or appetizer. When put on a stick, they are delicious with various sauces like Mexican salsa, spicy mayonnaise or the famous Southern France sauce, aioli. Your guests will very surprised when they will see those bugs on the table. After explaining them insects are daily eaten by almost half of humanity, they will probably consider the idea of trying them. They will be surprised by the familiar taste. It is nothing weird, they just taste like pecan and go very well with a glass of fine wine. Silkworms are actually great edible insects to get introduced to entomophagy (eating insects). You can also cook them like you would with shrimps and make a healthy meal.

Edible insects are healthy

Silkworms have excellent nutritional values : high protein with essential fatty acids, but low in pure fat. They can replace the meat or the fish in your favourite recipes. In many South-Eastern Asian countries, children, adults and seniors not only eat silworms because they are delicious, but also because of their nutritional values. Furthermore, the culinary qualities of silkworms have been known for ages. In traditional Chinese medicine, they are known as a way to treat the flu and are also used as antispasmodics. So don't wait longer and try the silkworms!

Un dernier ver pour la route ?

Un dernier ver pour la route ?
Les vers à soie sont moins dur que les autres insectes je trouve. Leur aspect est plus moelleux. J'aime bien. Cela a aussi le goût de viande grillée.
